 Hi to all Thumping Souls!!
I m Rajan Singh,25yrs old,Proud family Member of ROYAL BEASTS since last 4yrs now,since i have been Riding a RE,i did this ride in January and had send my write-up in january-end to RE trip story,but the people at RE Trip published it today on 7th march & informed me by e-mail,Thanx i Appreciate it RE supports team!

And this what i had sent them.........

On left fuel slip from Delhi 15th jan,08 5.59am & On right fuel slip from Pune 16th jan,08(delhi to Pune asper my bike odometer 1753kms(1093miles),Which as per fuel slip took me 22.57hrs,but as per my watch took me 22.43hrs)

Well this is not just a ride write-up or a trip story it’s more of a RE earning more respect for it’s endurance and reliability just when I as a Rider thought I can screw just about any RE engine,hahaha!!

It’s the month of January and new year full of new rides to begin with the RM08 venue is Ramoji Film city Hyderabad,from Delhi it’s 2 route’s
1)Via Agra-bhopal-Nagpur-Hyderabad same till Hyderabad as RM06 and same till Nagpur as RM07
2)Via Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahemdabad-Bombay-Pune-Hyderabad same till Bombay as RM05
I decided to do route 2,my bike is seized with 30000+km to a 500cc piston and open-up for overhaulin,but I do have a Lb350(avl) with me to deliver to a frnd in Bangalore.Gave me the idea and a chance put the Renowed Lb engine to test Rajan Singh style.

The Plan of Action
Ride for 1000+miles in minimum time and no mercy to engine,whereas 1000+miles in 24hrs(Delhi-Pune) is supposedly equal to A ride called Saddle-sore by Iron Butt in United States which people do on Harley’s,Goldwings,Bmw’s,etc…On Express Free Ways

The Reincarnation
The 2004 Tbird is 19850kms and 4yrs old 2 name a few rides done on it Delhi-Pondicherry has 15inch by 140 rear wheel,4inch extended front,Custom made cosmetics to make it look,feel and a ride quality like a Chopper,so it has to change to stock to put a RE to test,Thanx to my Mechanic Shammaji he dedicated his entire two days of hardwork to do The Reincarnation.
Front & rear from my bike,handlebar,fuel tank,custom exchaust for thump and performance,gril taken out of bend pipe,new chain seat with 17tooth front sprocket,new rear brake assembly not just brake shoe,new gear shaft and paddle,new clutch pressue and clutch plate with new clutch chain, resoling the entire magnet coil to my mark(had tough time @Ladakh Trip),new entire timing cover as the old was jam,new timing gear,pampering the engine with synethetic based magnatec(10/40w),a bit bigger fuel jet,the bike is now up to my mark.

I do a few test runs on NH8 at night but the bike will only do about 110 coz new magnatec oil(10/40w) takes about 1000km to start let the engine run freely for better speeds,so I would have to bend to do 115 to 118kms or else I somehow heat the oil to extreme on a freezing winter morning on highway,so it’s done I ride 6am I put up my bag on bike at night and go to bed.

Day 1 Ride 1000+miles(Delhi-Pune) in minimum time
15th jan 2008 morning I woke up 5.30am(temp 5 degrees) call my rider frnd Kam from RTMC Bangalore who stays nearby to witness the start of ride ,we hit a fuel pump on NH8 32nd milestone(Gurgaon) tank is up my card swiped time on slip 5.59am odometer 19970kms,t thank my frnd do my prayers & start
Bend down(2hrs)doing 115 to 118km I pass 130kms and the spot what to me was good distance for first stop in RM05 when i catched up with my group within 8.15hrs 678kms with 55min break on a tbird after starting a day later,I started screaming coz of Adrenalin overflowing my nerves full bore bend down,feeling strong then RM05 and just got even stronger.

First stop(Unexpectedly low mileage)(8.54am)
Some 280kms on road reserve comes on & I stop within 3kms at a fuel pump but no print slip to support my timing,so ask for reliance pump to my luck it’s 17kms ahead as I near it,it’s on the otherside of the road theirs no cut in the road,calls for a wheelie to cross the high divider without hitting the chamber on divider,as gas is filled a call Bawabhai who happens to be in metro Train in Delhi heading to Autoexpo9 for his days work at RE Trip Stall,it’s 2.55hrs 300kms done call u on next stop bye!!start again same ritual to cross road,by now engine is hot enough doing speeds of 120+kms without bending down,but this low mileage dis hearted me with my target of not taking of my feet the foot peg atleast for 450+kms.

Second stop(first refreshment a cup of hot tea)(11.06am)
It’s nearing 220+kms since last fuel fill & 520+kms since Delhi I need a cup of tea coz of freezing winter cold morning & bike needs refuel,to my luck A1 plaza I stop order tea call Bawabhai 5.07hrs 527kms done call u on next stop bye,a cup of hot strong tea and I m back on wheels with tank refueled.

Third stop(Engine Seize)(1.22pm)
Udaipur is left behind 26kms & It’s 678kms from Delhi the engine gives a sudden sound,a major seize feel and stop running,so a give the engine a breather a break,put some engine oil & after 10mins start the engine,it’s making numerous sounds a sound of PISTON SEIZE ,so i start riding it again with a thought
In mind how long can the piston survive,heheheeh!!but now I m a bit easy on engine with just 85 to 90% throttle on which the engine runs smooth,though with a lot of sound.
(3.38pm)I stop at a circle at beginning of Ahemdabad asking a truckwala how to By-pass the city ,which turned out to be a blessing coz en route RM05 it took us some good 2hours to cross the city,By-pass is still in construction mode but for me it was good to do speeds of 100+kms.

Fourth stop(Drama for a printed slip)
It’s a Reliance pump at nadiad after Ahemdabad tank is refueled I pay in cash and the bastered gave me a manual slip.It’s a new pump and their printing machines r still not functional,I lose my mind get of my bike ask for manager,but manager say he can’t help in this,so I ask him to take the fuel back he says not possible,I asked for the number of area supervisior called him the supervisior agrees to send me a printed slip of a nearby station in e-mail,I grab the manual slip 30mins wasted and I start riding again.

Fifth stop(Meal for 24hrs)(5.45pm)
It’s some ________ fertilizer crossing I m 400 kms shy of Bombay I call my Rider frnd Bilal in Bombay
And ask a banana hawker for banana to my surprise he asks me how many kilo,not same as Dozens in Delhi I end-up eating 2kg(21)banana.Bilal’s happy to hear from me &tells me about his plans for me after I reach Bombay at night & stay,for now I just asked him to ready be for me at night from as I will call him next from Vapi and then be their on the highway to receive me in Bombay & we will decide from their.

Sixth stop(Engine is gone for a toss)
It’s 9.35pm and the engine gave up since I was riding full bore from last 20kms ,I take a 5mins break,but my engine oil back-up,tools and spares are fallen from the side pocket of my bag as it’s stitching got open-up.so I start the engine but it’s only doing 20 to 40kms.ended up riding till Vapi till a fuel pump refuel tank,put 500ml oil in engine and start riding again now the engine feels smoother so I slowly..slowly…rev up to full bore,making sure I put 100+ml every 50+kms .

Seventh stop(After this stop there was no count of stops in Bombay and my Bro rider won’t let me go)
It’s 12.35am a board says turn left for Thane.so I stop call Bilal as I had called him from vapi to be ready on highway,but he says 20mins wait please at Fountain chowk hotel parking.it’s 15kms ahead so reach fountain hotel parking.at 1.40am I hear the Hum.. the Thump.. Here they come InddieThumpers. Bilal,Sharon & Satya,
But by now as the bike was doing great with timely oil top-up I had decided to make it to pune in 24hrs to make my ride equal to Saddlesure Ride@IronButt and Bilal had made his own plans for me which turned in a chaos,he was sure that he will make me agree to his plans and I ended up losing a lot of time in first waiting for him & then making him understand but finally he decided to ride with me to pune as Bilal as
A Bro rider won’t let a bro rider pass his city without offering his hospitality him and he can’t just let a
Bro rider to ride of solo at night from his city also a chance for us to ride along And I respect his feelings(I ride to Bombay,then things done as per ur plan is due on me bro Bilal And I m so sorry for this time),but as we head towards to meet Shyamal in Bombay he soon realizes that he would only slow me down and if he let’s me go then we both would be riding alone,after numerous breaks meeting Shyamal,piyush.Satya leads me to Pune highway as we reach panvel satya tells me to go straight for Pune(3.05am) to this I go full bore by the time Satya could catch-up with me,I realize I was long way down on Expressway but with no u-turn I ended up doing some 10+kms up and back,in the end I searched for the way on my own to Pune Highway.

I Had to do this,so I bend-down to put less pressure on engine coz lots of heavy wind & go easy at 90+kms/hr.as I crossed Raigarh resort the Venue for RM05 a bike headlight starts to follow some 100mtr behind I thought it’s one of my rider bro’s rider from Bombay but after 10+kms it’s still not coming close to me as I m doing constant 90+kms,so I slow down and a good sounding shogun passes by I catch up with him and compliment his bike,then I fireaway.at the intersection where the old and expressway combines I stop to ask is it the right way but no passing by vehicles ready to stop to tell,after 10mins the guy on shogun shows up as an angel,he agrees to show me the way and leads,must be a good dirt rider as he rides but why would he take of his leg of footpeg on tarmac roads as if it’s dirt track NOT SAFE,I just thank him since time was running out couldn’t exchange words or Phone number and got back to full Bore ahead.as I hit fuel pump in Pune the attendant bastard took 10mins to swipe my card time on Pune Finish slip comes as 4.57am date 16th jan 2008,1.07hrs less than 24hrs from (5.59am 15th jan)DELHI to PUNE(4.57am 16th 2008)odometer 21723kms.

In Morning as I rode with Bilal,Sharon,Satya,Sam,Baba and over all 76 Inddiethumpers from Pune to Hyderabad,my bike is just not ready to start after it seized stop so we towed the bike to a small village mechanic who tells me that the decompression switch on Tapped cover has problem coz of which the bike must be getting of as if seized and so the decompression switch gets off the tapped cover,as he starts the engine he tells me it’s the SOUND OF LOSE TIMING GEAR NOT OF A SEIZED PISTON,which made ME LOSE A LOT OF TIME IN MY ATTEMPT TO DO 1000+MILES IN MINIMUM TIME

BY THIS EXPERIENCE OF MINE WITH 678kms OF FULL THROTTLE WITH JUST 7Mins ENGINE SWITCHED OFF FOR TEA AND THEN 1175kms ALL IN 22.53Hrs ON A 4yrs & 19970kms OLD LB350 THUNDERBIRD
MADE ME RESPECT MORE THE LEGENDRY ROYAL ENFIELD
