The Electronic Ignition Kit is a retro fit to convert a conventional Contact Breaker (CB) points ignition system into a maintenance free electronic ignition system.

How does this improve the ignition system?
The CB points are included in the ignition system to provide high voltage current (18 to 20kv) at the spark plug end, so that the fuel mixture is ignited instantaneously. This helps the engine to perform efficiently. As there are moving parts and electrodes in this unit, there is bound to be wear and tear, which results in a reduction of high voltage and subsequent performance loss.

This Electronic Ignition Kit does not have any moving parts and hence provides a very stable high voltage to the spark plug. It also eliminates the need for frequent adjustments or recurring expenditure of changing parts like CB point condenser etc. Furthermore, since it has electronic parts like transistors, capacitors etc., it needs minimum current from the battery and thus helps to extend the life of the battery.

Do I still need a battery to start?
It requires atleast a weak battery to maintain the continuity of the circuit so that the ignition process can be completed.

Can the ignition timing be adjusted?
Yes, the ignition timing can be adjusted by turning the base plate like what is done in the CB points system.
