A royal ride for Royal Enfield.

Royal Enfield the motorcycling icon of India and manufacturers of the legendary Bullet brand of motorcycles has registered an impressive sales growth of 20 percent in December 2005.

It is interesting to note that the company has sold 2,620 units in December 2005 as against 2,189 units during the same period last year. Exports have soared in the current year registering an impressive 63 percent growth. The international Electra has been received well in Europe.

R L Ravichandran, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “the growth we have registered during December demonstrates the fact that demand for the bikes in the cruiser segment is only increasing. With progressive styling and the shift of gear to the left side of the Enfield is seeing a wider appeal especially among the younger generation.”

According to S Vaitheeswaran, Director Marketing, 'exports have gained across Europe with Germany and UK showing high growths. With the international Electra due for launch in the US we see exports as the major growth engine.'

The Royal Enfield motorcycle is the oldest current brand in the world is being manufactured in Chennai, India since 1955. Recently, the company celebrated it's golden jubilee fete wherein it launched two variants , Electra 5S with the five speed gearbox and gearshift on the left with dual tone colors and the Thunderbird, country's best cruiser bike, launched in a fully loaded version with Electric start.

The company to commemorate it's 50th year celebration launched a Coffee table book ' Royal Enfield , The Legend Rides On.' It comprises of 162 pages of sheer nostalgia and traces the marquee from it's origin in Redditch to it's present home in Chennai. A collectors item, the book has been compiled for lovers of Royal Enfield right from those who dream and aspire to those who already own their dream.
