I love India and have lived here now more then 12 years...! I have ridden all over India, Nepal and Bhutan and have completed nearly 99,000 klms long haul in these amazing countries....learn't to ride in Australia from 6 years old....have owned 5 Enfields and now ride a 09 T Bird Twin Spark with the lot....
Have ridden Shillong to Delhi return via Bihar and back through Madya Pradesh. Also Shillong to Pondicherry via Hyderabad and Bangalore as well as all the North Eastern States including Nagaland and Mizoram and Tripura...also did Shillong to the Wagah/Pakistan border and Srinigar and onto the Zanskar mountains and Leh via Bodh Gaya and Dharmsala!! That was a 7570 klm pre monsoon blast in 06!...
Sept 06...Going for a surf in Oz and will return in October to ride up to Darjeeling and Gangtok for the umpteenth time...gotta alot more ridin' here in India and its neighbouring countries; have also taken a ride from Shillong to Kathmandu in Nepal and back....my Indian wife Darity and Indian born daughter Pema totally support me in my travels around this country and the rest of the world, as does my second wife Nanu who is Nepali...Gujarat is the only state in India i have not visited so another long ride to that side maybe soon huh...anyone care to join me???? My story has now been severly edited, by default that is, so i can only keep you up to date from now...we did another long haul of 5500 klms from Darjeeling to Bodh Gaya to Banares and onto Agra and New Delhi...657 klms in one day! We did Rishikesh and Nainital and Ranikhet and upto Pithorogarh in Uttarakhand state...then into Western Nepal and to Tansen and Pokhara and into Kathmandu...bike ran great with just regular servicing and fuel figures of around 45kmpl...all good guys!
Jan 2010...Nanu and i still in KTM...my daughter back in Shillong...may do a trip to Thailand for a stint and then ride back to my beloved India...take good care dudes...stay upright...ride em hard!
Feb 2010...Off to Bangkok for some warmth and a few beer Changs...bike in storage in KTM...will have to try for my Indian visa in Thailand...this simple visa renewel process has become increasingly more difficult for me and many other foreigners not just in Nepal but Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as well...wish me luck...i wanna cross my 1 lakh of kilometres in India itself...I miss India too much.
I have made a tentitive order at the Siliguri dealership for the first T Bird 500 EFI...whenever she may be built and delivered...what ever the cost...this will motor us around South Asia like a beauty...i cannot contain myself; i can hardly wait...take good care on the roads guys and gals...ride em safe huh, Mark in Kathmandu, and back on the Bird next month...
