Role context and purpose

  • As an GMA QA Engineer for Royal Enfield Motorcycle Accessories (GCA) you will be a key team member of the GMA organisation, you will be based in India ensuring products reach our customers at the correct quality level, within cost and on time. You will work with teams across RE and at suppliers to deliver MCA products to market.
  • The main focus of this role will be to work closely with suppliers to ensure adequate supply of components for existing and new products as per design requirements within the quality and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • New product quality
  • Work with suppliers to deliver the required PPAP document in advance of production
  • Setting inspection requirements and approving Control plans for new products.
  • Process flow audits prior to PPAP approval.
  • Conduct and or arrange dimension checks of PPAP samples at supplier and at RE.
  • Review drawings & designs with suppliers in advance of production.
  • Reviewing production / manufacturing fixtures design & function
  • Inspection fixture development and approval prior to manufacture.
  • Confirm Agreement of inspection (AOI) documents for use by suppliers
  • Work with RE SQA & Suppliers on supplier inspection processes and methods.
  • Liaise with GMA design regarding new product production / manufacturing methods
  • Be involved in continuous improvement activities.
  • Production quality
  • Being the main point of contact for GMA suppliers for production quality issues.
  • Monitor and correct GMA warranty issues.
  • Raise & manage corrective action based on rejection data & warranty feedback.
  • Audit suppliers on an ongoing basis to ensure product quality standards are maintained or improved.
  • Conduct or witness component inspection layout audits
  • As a member of the GMA team you will need to have a flexible approach to work and job role. Expect to fully interact with the cross functional GMA team to both share your knowledge and benefit from the skills available within this team on a wide range of products and processes
  • The goal of each GMA team member is to grow the GMA revenue stream with well designed products produced using a robust process at the correct quality level.

Success matrics of the role

  • As the GMA QA Engineer you will be measured on OTIF delivery on various goals and performance indicators. These will depend on the focus area for the year. Overall success of your role will depend on the following measures but is not limited to:
  • Supplier PPM improvement.
  • On time delivery of product to market.
  • Closed out (robust) corrective actions.
  • Repeat issues of corrective actions

Scope and Impact

  • Responsible for the continuous supply of quality product from new & current suppliers
  • Long term working relationship with multiple suppliers
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers in India & possibly around the world

Network and stakeholders

  • You will report to the MCA Quality Manager based at the UK technical centre and interact with:
  • Suppliers
  • RE SQA & QA
  • Warehouse team
  • UK & India based Design and purchasing team

  • Our Joint goal is the Growth of the GMA RE revenue stream wit, profitable well designed products produced using a robust manufacturing process at the correct quality level
  • Good knowledge of Manufacturing Process and finishing.
  • Previous experience of at least 2-3 years within a quality role.
  • Inspection fixture design and development.
  • Fully conversant with reading drawings and applying tolerances.
  • Efficient multi tasking capabilities

  • Graduate with experience of 3-4 years in SAP ABAP programming. The experience includes at least 2-3 implementation projects.

  • Training and Development background and experience

Experience

  • 7 to 10 years in training and development. Can be from BFSI / consumer durables/ automotive industry / IT / ITES
  • Experienced in Training and Learning function, with exposure to functional and behavioural programmes; Has worked and managed Training Needs Analysis at Mid and Operation level , Experience with training MIS and digital training solutions. Experience with training vendors for the same. Ability to influence people/ stakeholders and the capacity to find alternatives and solutions as well as identify problems.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship management and people skills.

Educational Qualification

  • BE- Mechenical

Experience

  • Good Technical Knowledge of Automobiles, preferably exposure in either Two wheeler After Sales function or Projects.
  • Analytical knowledge
