Retro Racing Revived - The Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup
For the first time in India, Royal Enfield introduces a new retro racing format that is accessible and engaging. Inspired by the purist racing culture of the 1960s, the Continental GT Cup series is safe and fun. Our thoroughbred, race-prepped machines are devoid of any electronic rider aids to ensure it is the rider's skill that is rewarded. Centred around the exciting but unintimidating Continental GT 650 and with affordable entry costs, the Continental GT Cup is within reach of everyone who dreams of competing in classic motorcycle racing.
The GT Cup is a One Make Race format that gives you 20 equally capable and race-prepped Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycles to provide a level playing field. The motorcycles have minimal yet effective modifications to make them race-certified while retaining the core essence of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.
Aspiring participants can register online to show their interest in the GT Cup. All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria shall be sent invites via email to sign up for the Rider Selection Round to be held at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. The top 18 riders will form the final grid for the RE Continental GT Cup. A one-day Training Programme will also be conducted to educate riders about track riding techniques and track safety by renowned racer and noted automobile journalist, Aspi Bhathena.
The GT Cup championship shall comprise 4 rounds of racing, with each round spread over 4 days of track excitement - scrutiny, practice, qualifying and 2 races each. The riders shall accumulate points based on their positions held in each of the races. The top 3 winners shall be declared for each race of each round. And final championship winners shall also be announced based on the highest points accumulated.
