Job Overview
- As a GMA Quality Engineer for Royal Enfield Motorcycle Accessories, you will be a key team member of the quality team and GMA organisation. You will be based in the UK and have a collective responsibility for ensuring that products reach our customers at the correct quality level, within cost and on time. You will work with teams across RE, suppliers and sometimes with our domestic dealers to enable you to have a full appreciation of the impact that quality has on our products.
- The main focus of this role will be to work closely with quality engineers in India while ensuring that adequate levels of quality is maintained through the APQP, PPAP, and Quality Issues database.
Key Responsibilities
- Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- All Products
- Work with Quality Engineers to audit, document and update PPAP documents
- Responsible for working with Quality Quality Engineers in maintaining the PPAP tracker
- Coordination of Appearance Approval Reports and Form, Fit and Function Reports
- Work with Quality Engineers to establish quality concerns investigation protocol and use GMA SCAR and 8D process as part of the investigation
- Maintenance of the Quality Issues Database system
- Coordination of product testing (Salt Spray & Humidity Tests) and tracking status
- Ensure that suppliers have GMA related documents/quality manuals and work with suppliers to ensure they understand GMA requirements
- Work with RE QE’s & Suppliers on supplier inspection processes and methods
- Liaise with GMA design regarding product manufacturing methods
- Be involved in continuous improvement activities
- Being a key point of contact for GMA Quality Engineers, Product Managers and Design Engineers
- Support UK, Europe related warranty issues
- Low level inspection of parts for acceptability
Qualifications and Experience
- APQP & PPAP experience
- Quality problem solving, corrective actions and investigation
- Excellent Powerpoint and Excel skills
- A self starter and must be able to work on own initiative
- Good working knowledge of ISO:9001 (or AS9100, IATF 16949)
- HND in engineering, mechanical engineering or quality engineering
- Auditing experience
- Previous experience of at least 2-3 years within a quality role
Success metrics or Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- As the GMA Quality Engineer you will be measured on delivery and various goals and performance indicators. These will depend on the focus area for the year. Overall success of your role will depend on the following measures but is not limited to:
- Supplier PPAP completion
- On-time delivery of product to market
- Closed out (robust) corrective actions
- Repeat issues of corrective actions
- Resolution of Warranty related issues
Scope and Impact
- Responsible for the continuous supply of quality product from new & current suppliers
- Supporting the team to achieve overall GMA commercial targets
- Long term working relationship with multiple suppliers
- Support QA Manager in targeting supplier issues which have a direct impact on warranty targets
- Willingness to travel to Europe (and possibly India)
Network and Stakeholders
- You will report to the GMA Quality Assurance Team Manager based at the UK Technical Centre and interact with:
- Suppliers
- RE SQA & QA Engineering
- Warehouse QA team
- UK & India based design, sourcing, and purchasing teams
- RE Sales
