Senior Engineer - Electrical

Overview

  • Working closely as part of the Electrical team, which sits within the UKTC Product Development Function providing support and expertise on electrical developments to design projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Design main vehicle wiring harness, considering function, cost, manufacture, assembly and quality.
  • Produce good quality 2D engineering drawings.
  • Follow and help maintain design, operational and quality procedures.
  • Produce supporting documentation for designs, as required.
  • Design components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements & RE internal test procedures where needed.
  • Liaise with internal departments such as, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Assembly.
  • Liaise with outside suppliers.
  • Manage their own time and workload effectively.
  • Create and manage timing plans for their areas of responsibility.
  • Instrument motorcycles for on road/track testing.
  • Day to day running of the electrical workshop.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Minimum of 2:1 required.
  • 3 years minimum automotive electrical/systems design experience.
  • Practical experience working with electrical systems/motorcycles preferred.

Success metrics or Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Produce 2D drawings on time and in full on designation projects.
  • 100% accuracy in design drawings and documentation.
  • Full compliance on following design and operation procedures.

  • Working in a small team but working in a matrixed environment across teams and projects to provide electrical support and expertise to engineering design teams and instrumentation support for practical motorcycle testing.

What are we looking for?

  • Ability to demonstrate good time management and comprehensive knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Understanding of the design requirements for mass production manufacturing preferred.
  • Understanding of the concepts of systems engineering and integration between ECUs.
  • Basic understanding of motorcycle layout and construction is advantageous.
  • Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation an advantage.
  • Motivated and willingness to learn and grow in a fast paced industry.
