Nothing excites a motorcycle builder more than an empty canvas and the opportunity to create something that puts their skills to the test.
Such open-ended opportunities push the barriers of our imagination to the next level and that is one of the ways in which, ideas are born.
They also say the best of the ideas have popped up in the worst of the situations. This is why I believe that for a bike builder, a project with clearly defined constraints, is an equal opportunity to push the barriers of my imagination further than ever before. Therefore, I’d like to run you through my submission for the Royal En field Build Your Own Legend Contest around a deep-rooted philosophy.
EMBRACING CONSTRAINTS
The IDEA
is to use Constraints as a ‘vehicle’ in our journey of expressing ourselves whilst being in sync with the way of things.
The FOCUS
is to flow with dead ends rather than fight through it. To learn to accept and blend with things that are beyond your control.
The OBJECTIVE
is to create something that fuels the aspiration of owning a custom motorcycle and is accessible to the masses.
The BUILD
I intend to achieve the above-mentioned by designing and building a Bolton Kit for the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 with just 3 clear constraints that will be applicable throughout the ideation, design, and fabrication process.
No Cutting No Welding No Grinding. The build should be completed without any of the above being performed on the donor bike.
The CONCEPT
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is a carefully crafted cruiser motorcycle. This project is my opportunity to showcase my take on a retro-modern cruiser concept.
This is where modern technology meets vintage-inspired styling.
Inspired by the sheer aspiration of owning and riding a Custom Royal Enfield motorcycle, I intend to display the possibilities of what a bolt-on build can achieve.
