I was never that much interested in bikes. But as I saw more and more of these and one fine day got a chance to get a ride on a Classic 350 Desert Storm, I kind of started to understand why the Royal Enfield brand changed ever so slightly over the years and only grew its following. I especially like the single-seater bikes as they provide you true freedom to go anywhere without anything holding you back.
My dream bike has to stand out. It does not have to blend in. And thus, my inspiration is the Migaloo, the most famous and only one of its kind white humpback whale. Spotted only a few times over a span of three decades but made the world turn their heads. (Although my Migaloo will be spotted more than just a few times! )
The sheer size and pearlescent light blue colour will make it easily recognizable. The tank will be redesigned to look like the fin of the whale and the low seating and relaxed riding position of the Meteor will not be changed for the best. The blacked out powerplant will complement the otherwise striking colour of the bodywork. The off-white leather seats with shock-absorbers (classic RE!) give will provide comfort and luxury. The rear tail-lamps are made to according to the dorsal fin of the whale which has spiked edges.
A short ride to the best coffee shop in the neighbouring town will be as equally fun as a Sunday morning ride with friends to the nearby hill-station. My dream bike will be an extension of me, quirky but reliable, radiant yet subtle. And I believe that the Migaloo will complement me everywhere I go even if I have a suit on or have to go to the movie with a casual pair of jeans and white T-shirts.
And the best part, the heart of it will be MADE-IN-INDIA!
