Need help with seating posture and ride comfort

Guys,

I rode to lonavala from mumbai and back yesterday on my thunderbird. It was brilliant.

One thing that bothers me though. My bum started hurting after 2-3 hours of continous riding. more so on the way back. It wasn't absoultely unbearable, but still quite uncomfortable.

Is there some recommended riding posture for more comfort? or should I increase frequency of halts and take the ride more at ease? Or is this something that I have to put up with since I'm to riding and hopefully condition myself (and my bum) for long rides.

Hi Salil,
Two hours or more of continuous riding sure does cause a sore bum. It''s just an indication that your muscles need more blood circulation. In general, few stretching sessions between every couple of hours of driving helps your ride focussed.

Only if your back or shoulders ache, then it might be a problem with the posture. But this just suggests that your posture is good because the weight of your body is just transfered vertically down. Means the CG of your body is just correct.

If you did wear a backpack or carried some extra weight on your shoulders, that could have been another cause. Otherwise it''s perfectly alright!

Hello friend, many may disagree, but the laid back cruiser style is not good for distance, iot causes undue pressure on the back and the cockyx as opposed to the buttocks and thighs! The standard sit-up style is very much superiour! I have had laid back USA made bikes, let me say, they are not good! The standard R.E. saddle is very good, and the posture is second to none. I appreciate that style over substance is the modern way.
