Hello all,
I have T'B 2003 model.... i would like to know how much u can increase or decrease the number of tooth in the sprocket(if any one tried it yet) which gives me a good intial pickup.. or the other way round means more top speed and less inital pickup..
Is it 16 front, 38 rear or it is 18 front, 38 rear "I am not sure". I really want to know this help would be appreciated

its 18 front, and 38 rear for the bird.
16 for standard, and 17 for the 500.
for heightening initial pickup, any of those front sprocket can be used. either 16 or 17. but ull lose out on top end speed.
neways, im on the lookout for a 15 tooth front sprockt, tht was there on enfields some time ago, neways, once i find it, fix it, will definetly post the views,
cheers
A larger front or countershaft sprocket will increase your top speed. A smaller front or countershaft sprocket will increase your pickup from a start while decreasing your top speed. I'm using a 19 tooth front sprocket on my 500 and stronger clutch springs to combat clutch slippage. My bike will easily cruise now at 90 kmph. Remember to put your chains master link clip on the inside of the chain facing the wheel or it will rub on the primary case.
Hi NorthernStorm,
Please advice how to play with air-screw to increase / decrease pickup.
I own Electra 5S and find it too quick in gears. Currently it is 0-20 in 1st, 15-30 in 2nd, 30-40 in 3rd, 40-50 in 4th and then 5th. I am unhappy with short plays in 1st, 3rd and 4th gears.
I want it to something like 0-25 in 1st, 20-35 in 2nd, 30-50 in 3rd, 40-60 in 4th and then 5th. This will make life easier as I have to change lesser gears.
I also want to use higher torque for higher cruising speed of around 75-90 in 5th gear. Should I go for sprawket tooth upgrade by 10% (around two teeth)?
Please advise.
i changed my front sprocket form an 18t to a 16t....the performance is defenetly better but the engine revs much more now....and high rev doesnt let you push it too hard....top speed is much less now...top speed under 120 now....used to go past 130 in stock condition.......i use a machismo lb500....i personally think the stock is better coz the bike has enough power already

hi,
the TBIRD already generates a bhp of 18.1 @ 5500 rpm, making that the TBIRD one of indias fastest bike, i personally havent heard of anyone playing around with the sprocket, and just to give u some friendly advise i think we can just leave the sprocket to as it is, coz its been already setup for optimum performance, if its a better pickup that u want then just play around with ur AIR SCREW and an open silencer ( NO mufflers to slow u down!! )
regards
