The 16th edition of the Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey will be flagged off from Chandigarh on July 4th, 2019. Calling out to all those who love to ride on tough and testing terrain while navigating through empty stretches of pristine landscape, rock-strewn pathways and traversing the highest mountain passes to join this one of a kind ride. Check-in:- This is the day when you check-in to your hotel in Chandigarh. Take out time to know the other riders who would be with you for the next 18 days. You will also have an evening free to wind down or to explore Chandigarh - “the city beautiful”.

Briefing & first aid training:- Basic first aid training on the second day followed by a briefing makes sure that you get the basic principles of riding together in the mountains. These learnings and practices hold you in good stead not just for the Odyssey but also for your future rides to come.

Chandigarh to Manali:- This is the day when you start ascending into the mountains. You are welcomed by some breath-taking views of the snow-capped peaks and azure skies on our way to Manali. As you approach, the jaw-dropping view of lush green coniferous forests, gushing blue streams and a fragrance of the pine trees make you feel at home.

Manali to Keylong:- After a hearty breakfast in the lap of nature, you start riding towards Keylong, crossing the Rohtang Pass that connects the Kullu Valley with Lahaul & Spiti Valley. The view also changes from lush green forests into vast expanses and high mountains. Tandi, 7 kms before Keylong, is the last fuelling station before Leh where everyone tanks up.

Keylong to Sarchu:- As you head towards Sarchu, you leave Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh to enter the Ladakh region in Jammu & Kashmir, crossing the Baralacha La pass. Because of its remoteness, there is no mobile connectivity at Sarchu, leaving you to enjoy the tranquility of the place.

Sarchu to Leh:- An eventful ride of 5 days brings you to the mecca of every motorcyclist, Leh. Enroute crossing the legendary Gata Loops (a series of 22 hairpin bends), a long 50 kms of smooth tarmac from Pang through More plains and 2 of the mighty mountain passes – Tanglang La and Lachalung La.

Rest day at Leh:- Reaching Leh marks the end of a significant chapter of the Himalayan Odyssey and what better thing to do than to soak in the sights and sounds of this beautiful town. Spend the day exploring the local attractions, scour the local market for memorabilia and savour the local delicacies.

Leh to Hunder:- After a day’s rest, you resume your ride towards Hunder, crossing the mighty Khardung La. Hunder is popular for Bactrian Double humped camels and a vast stretch of sand dunes between Diskit & Hunder.

Hunder to Pangong Tso:- After spending a night in Hunder under the clearest of skies in this region, you start your journey to the world’s highest brackish water lake, Pangong Tso that stretches around 134 kms with 40% of it lying in India. Activities don't stretch much beyond ogling the ever-changing lake colours and taking invigorating lakeshore walks.

Pangong Tso to Hanle:- After having breakfast on the banks of Pangong Lake, your start your ride towards Hanle which is the most beautiful, enchanting and calm places in the Changthang region of Ladakh.Hanle also has an Indian Astronomical Observatory, which is the highest observatory in the world.

Hanle to Debring:- The next stop is Tso Kar in Debring, also known as the ‘White Lake’ because of salt deposits all over the shore. It is surrounded by marshland that hosts some amazing bird life. The night at Tso Kar is equally stunning, which gives you a breathtaking view of the milky way.

Debring to Keylong:- You would get to ride on More Plains once again, a 50 km stretch of flatlands at an elevation of 15,000 feet with a flat and smooth tarmac flanked by mountain ranges on both sides. A Photographer’s delight, this place will give you opportunities for some of the best group photos and shots one can have as it has vast desolate expanses all around.

Keylong to Manali:- After several days of off-road terrain, you would hit the tarmac surrounded by pine & spruce trees on the penultimate day of the ride on your way back towards Manali.

Manali to Chandigarh:- On the final day, you ride back towards the plains to reach Chandigarh where the ride comes to an end. And with that, a lifelong pursuit of exploration begins in every rider. The end of an Epic Ride is marked by Certificate Distribution and a small celebration.
