Day 16
The final day of the odyssey began with one last briefing, hearts full and eyes quietly tracing the map of memories made. The riders cruised from Manali to Chandigarh with a shared sense of pride and camaraderie. The adventure that started among strangers ended with friendships sealed over mountain passes, water corssings, and perseverance. With congratulations exchanged and promises to ride again, goodbyes were said, not as farewells, but as 'see you on the road.''
Day 15
A familiar yet fulfilling ride, the journey from Jispa to Manali was lined with scenic landscapes, cascading streams, and the kind of winding roads every rider dreams of. The team cruised through the Lahaul valley, enjoying the comfort of well-laid tarmac and soaking in the final leg of mountain magic. With each twist and turn, reflections of the past weeks added weight to every kilometre, not an end, but a deep breath before the next ride begins.
Day 14
The penultimate ride of the journey was filled with raw beauty and emotional milestones. Leaving Padum, the riders passed the mighty Gumbok Rangjon, a silent guardian in the vast wilderness before climbing the last pass of the ride, Shinku La. As they crossed into Himachal Pradesh, the welcome sight of smooth tarmac felt like a reward well earned.
Day 13
A day of true adventure, the route from Leh to Padum had it all stunning views, mixed terrains, and raw Himalayan challenge. Riders crossed two high-altitude passes, Singe La and Sirsir La, navigating through water crossings, landslides, and roadblocks along the way. From stretches of smooth tarmac to rocky off-road trails, every kilometre tested grit and rewarded with unmatched views. A fitting prelude to the final leg of the ride.
Day 12
A well-spent rest day in Leh gave the riders time to soak in the local culture, visit monasteries, and stroll through the vibrant Leh market. The much-needed pause helped riders recharge, reflect, and gear up for the final leg of this epic adventure in the Himalayas.
Day 11
The return to Leh from Hanle was filled with quiet reflection and satisfaction. The riders cruised through vast open landscapes with sweeping views, revisiting familiar trails with a newfound sense of accomplishment. A calmer, smoother ride compared to the earlier climbs, yet no less beautiful.
Day 10
The most anticipated day of the ride. Riders pushed through rough, barren terrain to reach Umling La, the world’s highest motorable road, towering at 19,024 feet. Energy levels were soaring, and emotions ran even higher as each rider stood atop the summit. It was a day of triumph, resilience, and unforgettable highs, both literally and emotionally. An experience that defined the essence of this ride.
Day 09
A wonderful ride through wide open twisties led the riders deeper into Ladakh’s remote beauty. The journey to Hanle included a mandatory pitstop at Camp Karu for a taste of traditional butter tea and some freshly brewed coffee. Along the way, the team fueled up at the world’s highest fuel station in Nyoma, at 13,123 feet. A day of easy cruising, cultural flavors, and stunning Himalayan backdrops as the riders approached the tranquility of Hanle.
Day 08
One of the most iconic days of the ride, the route from Sarchu to Leh had it all. Riders tackled the legendary Gata Loops, a dizzying series of 21 hairpin bends before conquering three high-altitude passes: Nakee La (15,547 feet), Lachung La (16,616 feet), and Tanglang La (17,480 feet). Narrow roads, steep climbs, and open landscapes led them through the surreal More Plains, where vast high-altitude plateaus stretch endlessly. The day was packed in adventure, altitude, and breathtaking beauty, as the team finally rolled into Leh, tired, exhilarated, and awestruck. What a day it had been!
Day 07
Climbing deeper into the high Himalayas, the ride from Keylong to Sarchu offered a mix of dramatic landscapes, flowing rivers, and high altitude desert beauty. With Baralacha La 4,890 m (16040 feet) standing tall en route, the day tested both machines and minds. As oxygen levels dipped, the camaraderie rose, every rider pushing through with grit. The vast expanse of Sarchu welcomed the team into Ladakh with a surreal sunset and chilly winds, wrapping up another unforgettable chapter in the ride.
Day 06
A long, demanding day on the saddle saw the riders cover over 120 km of rugged off-road terrain. The journey was packed with thrill and challenge, as the team crossed their first high-altitude pass Kunzum La, standing tall at 4,551 meters (14,931 feet). Water crossings and rocky trails added to the adventure, testing skill, and endurance. As they exited Spiti and re-entered Himachal, riders were welcomed by smooth tarmac, a sight for sore eyes after a tough off-roading stretch. An epic day that will stay etched in memory.
Day 05
A much needed break in Kaza gave the riders time to explore and soak in the unique culture of Spiti. The team visited the iconic Key Monastery, wandered through the vibrant local market, and posted memories from the world’s highest post office in Hikkim. A day of reflection, connection, and cultural immersion in the heart of the mountains.
Day 04
The ride into Spiti began with a breathtaking ride through high mountains, remote villages, and stark terrain. Passing through Nako and Tabo, the team experienced the dramatic shift in landscapes from green valleys to the raw, rugged beauty of Spiti. The stretch from Tabo to Kaza brought in thrilling off-road sections, a fitting welcome into the heart of Spiti. A day filled with awe, altitude, and pure adventure.
Day 03
With clear skies and smooth roads, the ride to Kalpa was a treat. The weather stayed pleasant throughout, and the riders soaked in the lush greenery and stunning Himalayan views. Spirits were high as the team cruised through one of the most scenic legs of the journey.
Day 02
The Himalayas greeted the riders with rain and fog, setting the tone for an adventurous day. Riders pushed through low visibility and wet roads, keeping spirits high as they tackled winding climbs and mountain twists. A true Himalayan welcome!
Day 01
Basic first aid training on this day followed by a briefing made sure that all understood the basic principles of riding together as a team in the mountains. These learnings and practices will hold them in good stead not just for Himalayan Odyssey but also for future rides to come.
Day 00
A diverse contingent of 77 riders gathered in Chandigarh from the length and breadth of India, along with adventure enthusiasts from Germany, South Korea, the US and more. This day was all about preparation for a motorcycle journey of a lifetime, including final checks on the motorcycles, safety gear and a get together to break the ice with all riders.

Day 16
The day the realisation sets in that the ride of a lifetime is now coming to an end. And this is also when a fresh pursuit for exploration begins for many. While the weather changed from pleasant to humid, the riders spirits were on peak as they arrived in Chandigarh, triumphant of completing a true odyssey through the Himalayas.
Day 15
Surrounded by pine and spruce trees, Narkanda turned out to be the destination for a get together for the group's riders as the end of the ride nears. A relaxing run on tarmac saw the group reach Narkanda by lunch time and ample of time to stretch their legs
Day 14
After being well rested at the beautiful town of Kaza, the ride entered its final stages as the group headed towards Kalpa, riding along the Sutlej River. It was smooth tarmac through mountain rock overhangs that made the scenery dramatic. Kalpa also gave us a little glimpse of the Kinnaur Kailash Peak.
Day 13
Kaza is surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides and is popular for the spectacular Key Monastery and fascinating high altitude villages like Langza, Komic and Kibber. A true postcard landscape - speaking of which many from the group wrote post cards to their homes from the highest post office in the world at Spiti's Hikkim village.
Day 12
This was the most adventurous and unpredictable dat of the ride as the group rode through all kinds of terrain and faced back-to-back water crossings, but the rain goda were on our side with a cloud cover but not much of downpour, before navigating across Kunzum La to reach the town of Kaza. This place marked the team's entry into the scenic Spiti Valley of Himachal.
Day 11
After a hearty breakfast in the lap of nature, next to an exquisite lake nestled in the mountains, riders took off for Keylong, The scenery transformed along the way from high mountains to lush green forests. On this day, riders did 110 km of serenity.
Day 10
This was the day Himalayan Odyssey would begin the second leg of the ride that would lead riders into Spiti. But as we've learnt the easy way and the hard, the Mountains Have Other Plans. A road closure at Pang meant the team acted on Plan B and the group rode to Tso Kar instead, braving rains along the way. All riders were exposed to a whole new experience ending in a warm homestay at the banks of Tso Kar lake.
Day 09
Riders were already familiar with this route as they'd done Leh to Hanle for the big day of crossing the Umling La pass just a couple of days before. This was a much relaxed day of 260 km of smooth sweeping tarmac back to the heart of Ladakh for an evening of unwinding and shopping for souvenirs.
Day 08
The D-day arrived and the riders were psyched to ride to the highest motorable road in the world, Umling La, higher than the Everest Base Camp at 19,024 feet. An incredible ride experience, a thrilling adventure and a major bucket list item for thousands, the route took riders through challenging terrains, rugged mountains, off-road, hairpin bends, and serene valleys. Riders navigated through extreme altitudes, relishing breathtaking landscapes and the exhilaration of living a pinnacle in the Himalayas.
Day 07
The journey from Leh to Hanle, covering around 255 km, was a relaxing ride through Ladakh’s remote landscapes. It was smooth sailing through tarmac twisties ending up in Hanle, a small village, with its pristine beauty and the Indian Astronomical Observatory, that offers a tranquil escape in the high-altitude wilderness of Ladakh.
Day 06
Leh, a Himalayan paradise, brims with cultural and natural wonders. Team Zanskar had a day off to stretch their legs and explore the charming Leh town. Some rode to Pangong Tso lake, some went exploring the historic Leh Palace, ancient monasteries like Thiksey, and indulged in the Leh market's vibrant offerings, including the delectable delights of the Ladakhi culture.
Day 05
Crossing two iconic mountain passes of the Zanskar Valley, including the exquisite Sirsir La had riders gasping in awe at the raw and rugged landscape and most importantly the dirt tracks that led to the top. Riders may have been covered in dirt but the smiles were wide as the landscape transitioned from barren valleys to vast plateaus and the group was welcomed by the cultural richness of Ladakh.
Day 04
Crossing the mighty Shinkula Pass, the ride into Zanskar kicked off with a dramatic change in terrain. Rugged trails, water crossings, and remote landscapes kept the adrenaline high. The team passed the awe inspiring Gumbok Rangjon, a sacred monolith standing tall in the wilderness, marking the entry into the untamed Zanskar valley. A raw and unforgettable day on the saddle.
Day 03
A relaxed start to the next phase of the journey, the ride from Manali to Jispa was all about soaking in the scenic beauty. Smooth roads, pleasant weather, and lush surroundings made it a peaceful yet picturesque day on the road. The perfect warm-up for the high atitude adventures ahead.
Day 02
A good sign of a ride done well is bright faces at the end of the day and despite heavy rains along the way, Team Zanskar had an incredible experience riding through lush green valleys, several tunnels, and making pit stops at local eateries. After 265 km of smooth tarmac and twisties, the group is now in Manali for a quaint evening.
