Day 00
Arrive in Chandigarh and settle in for a meet and greet with the riders who will be your companions for the days ahead. You will also get a lowdown on important and interesting inputs from the Royal Enfield team during motorcycle and riding gear scrutiny, which will help you take better care of your machine through the ride. After check-in at the hotel, your evening is free to wind down or head out to explore the city.
Day 01
This day is dedicated to getting you fully prepared for the mountains. A detailed ride briefing and basic first aid orientation ensure everyone understands the principles of group riding, safety, and etiquette in high-altitude terrain. By the end of the day, you and your fellow riders will be aligned on the route, support structure, and what to expect from the Himalayan Odyssey.
Day 02
The ride begins as the cavalcade rolls out of Chandigarh towards the Himalayas. You gradually leave behind the plains and enter the hills, riding through small towns and river valleys as the air turns cooler and the vistas wider. By the time you reach Manali, you have your first real taste of the mountain rhythm that will define the rest of the journey.
Day 03
Today you leave the busy tourist town of Manali and slip into the higher Himalayas. Passing through the Atal Tunnel and into Lahaul, the landscape transforms from green slopes to stark, towering rock faces and open valleys. You end the day in Keylong, a quiet mountain town that becomes your first halt in the high country.
Day 04
The route from Keylong to Sarchu takes you deeper into classic Himalayan Odyssey territory. You climb towards high passes and glacial lakes, with the air thinning and the surroundings becoming more dramatic at every turn. By the time you roll into the plains of Sarchu, you are riding in a raw, wind-swept world that feels far removed from the plains you left behind.
Day 05
This is one of the defining days of the ride, as you cross a series of iconic high passes and long, open stretches of tarmac across the high plateau. Endless bends, sudden climbs and vast empty landscapes keep you on your toes throughout the day. Reaching Leh in the evening feels like arriving in a different world, with monasteries on ridges and the Indus flowing quietly through the valley.
Day 06
After consecutive days at altitude, this rest day in Leh allows your body to acclimatise and your mind to absorb where you have arrived. You can explore the town, visit landmarks like the palace and Shanti Stupa, or simply take it easy at the hotel. It is also the perfect time to check over your motorcycle and gear before the next leg into even more remote terrain.
Day 07
Leaving Leh, you trace quieter roads along the Indus before turning towards the wide-open expanses of the Changthang plateau. The ride to Hanle gradually moves you away from busy settlements into an isolated high-altitude desert of vast skies and distant horizons. By the time you reach Hanle, you are in one of the most remote inhabited regions of the Himalayas, with a night sky that feels almost unreal.
Day 08
The day many riders have been waiting for, as you attempt to summit Umling La, the world’s highest motorable road. The route throws at you a mix of loose surfaces, steep sections, and very thin air, demanding full concentration and respect for the altitude. Returning to Hanle after having stood at this extreme point is a quiet, deeply satisfying experience that stays with you long after the ride.
Day 09
You retrace your path across the Changthang, now seeing the landscape with different eyes after having conquered its highest point. The familiar stretches back towards Leh give you a chance to ride more relaxed and soak in the views you may have rushed past earlier. Reaching Leh in the evening feels like coming back to a base that you now know well.
Day 10
This second rest day in Leh is about recovery and reflection after the effort of Umling La. You can revisit your favourite spots in town, explore monasteries and cafés, and catch up with fellow riders for a conversation. It also serves as a buffer before the ride turns west towards the rugged landscapes of Zanskar.
Day 11
Today you leave the relative comfort of Leh and head towards the more remote and less travelled valleys of Zanskar. The road winds through dramatic gorges, high passes and narrow mountain ledges, constantly shifting between smooth stretches and rougher sections. By the time you roll into Padum, you are at the heart of a valley that feels both ancient and untouched.
Day 12
The journey from Padum to Jispa is a full day of changing terrain and views as you exit Zanskar and rejoin the broader Himalayan corridors. River crossings, broken patches and flowing sections give you a complete mix of riding conditions. Jispa, with its riverside setting and cluster of lodges, offers a welcome sense of warmth and familiarity after the remoteness of Padum.
Day 13
Leaving Jispa, you trace your way back towards the greener slopes of Himachal. The high, stark valley gradually gives way to forests, villages and fuller rivers as you approach Manali. Rolling into town, you feel the contrast between the quiet of the high passes and the buzz of this popular mountain hub.
Day 14
The final riding day takes you from the mountains back to the plains, giving you time to replay the entire journey in your head as the landscape slowly flattens out. You pass through familiar towns and highways, with the knowledge that you have come full circle. Reaching Chandigarh, the starting point, brings a strong sense of closure and achievement.
Day 15
This is your departure day, when you check out of the hotel and bid goodbye to the riders and crew who have shared this experience with you. Stories, contacts and future ride plans are exchanged one last time. You leave knowing that the Himalayan Odyssey will stay with you long after you have ridden away.

Leaving Leh, you ride out across the high plateau once more, crossing a series of iconic high passes and long, open stretches of tarmac. Endless bends, sudden climbs and vast empty landscapes keep you on your toes throughout the day. By the time you roll into the plains of Sarchu, you are back in a raw, windswept world that feels far removed from the towns you have just left.
Day 12
The route from Sarchu to Keylong gradually drops you out of the highest plateau towards comparatively gentler valleys. You descend from the stark, high-altitude barrens into more defined valleys and rivers, with every kilometre bringing slightly thicker air and a change in colour and texture of the mountains. Keylong, with its quiet streets and mountain backdrop, offers a comfortable halt after the harshness of Sarchu.
Day 13
Leaving Keylong, you trace your way back towards the greener slopes of Himachal.
